I have a situation that I would think is fairly common, but searching didn't yield many results. I have a 2014 Mac mini that I normally run headless, but also have it connected to the AV receiver of my home theater. The HDMI chain is connected as follows: mac mini > Pioneer VSX-1020 A/V receiver > 60' Sony 1080p TV from 2010. Most of the time I access the mini from a Windows 10 laptop using VNC. Sometimes the shared screen works well and sometimes the mini sees that it's headless and VNC looks like garbage (4:3 low resolution). Emulator help on Mac Mini HTC. Discussion in 'Mac and PC Games' started by HE15MAN, Feb 19, 2010. I purchased the FUERAN 007 HDMI Pass-Through EDID Emulator from Amazon. It solves the VNC issue by tricking the mac mini that it's connected to a display, however if I turn my real display on the pass-through doesn't work. I will need to troubleshoot to determine if the emulator is passing 3840x2160@60hz through. If so, then I would not expect it to work since my entire system is 1080p only. The other possibility is that it doesn't like having an AV receiver in between the emulator and the actual display. When the main display is on and working (no emulator connected), the mini sees the display as 'VSX-1020'. I would guess the former is the actual issue here. Does anybody know of a good inexpensive HDMI EDID emulator with 1080p pass-through to a real display? ![]() ![]() Is this a capability of the Monoprice 'Dr. An EDID emulator isn't going to change or scale the actual signal. EDID only tells the computer what resolutions and timings are supported and a recommended resolution to default to. What does the Macmini say it is outputing? That is what the emulator will pass thru because it isn't scaling the signal to something else. Best mac home design software. Sounds like the Fueran isn't detecting when the receiver is turned on. The DR HDMI is nice in that it can clone the EDID info from the sink, so you can use the TV's actual EDID info. Otherwise the built in ones are pretty standard. That way the DR HDMI is always providing the EDID info, instead of trying to switch as the receiver/TV turn on/off.
